Napa Valley’s weather has made it possible for farm workers to prune in the vineyards. All is dormant right now, with evening lows in the 30s and daytime highs peaking in the low 70s. Tough life, but somebody has got to do it. These vines are next to the ever-popular Silver Oaks Winery on the Oakville Crossroad — if my memory serves me correctly.
Knock, knock. Anybody home? I just couldn’t take my eyes off this home perched near a hilltop in the Napa Valley. This photo was taken from Quintessa Winery. What more can anyone ask for — great weather, great views and great wines all in the Wine Country.
The Fremont Diner was my stop spot for breakfast earlier this week. From the outside it doesn’t look real exciting. But when you sit down, the food is no nonsense great to eat at fairly reasonable prices. The eatery is open for breakfast and lunch and there is plenty of it. A normal person will not leave hungry. The Fremont Diner is west of Napa in Sonoma County heading toward Highway 101 and Marin County/San Francisco/Fairfax etc. Check it out and drop me a line about what you think.
I had a craving for fresh quality beef jerky. So I headed over to the Oxbow Public Market to the Fatted Calf to satisfy my taste buds. This stuff is worth its weight in gold and a nice decadent pleasure. Too bad this is all I need to make me happy.
Mmm! There is nothing so good and simple as good bread. This is how I relive a little taste of Paris from my home in the Napa Valley. Notice the beautiful air pockets, which let you know this going to be great. There is also a nice deep brown crunchy crust.
The menu displayed outside Napkins doesn’t appear to be super unfriendly to the pocketbook. Downtown Napa’s eating scene is really getting exciting.
Napa’s newest restaurant is a nice addition to the New Year 2014. Looks pretty nice from the outside. Need to save a few pennies to at least try lunch before recommending it to people. Maybe I’ll get lucky and get a couple of driving jobs.
